Why Us? We can make a building look good and detail it well, but we know most of a building is not visible. The primary function of a building is to solve real practical physical problems as efficiently as possible - shelter, structure, warmth, fresh air, safety, comfort, food storage, preparation and family dining, energy supply, tranquility, rest, hygiene, communications, all with modest simple clear design, built in storage, and other well detailed features. It must balance many different factors - fulfilling the functional needs but also adding something special that distinguishes our humanity. The appearance of the thin applied skin - maybe 1% of the material used shouldn't be the only driving factor. 99% is hidden - remains concealled. We try to balance the aesthetic or stylized factors with the practical - the way it processes structural forces, BTUs, moisture, fresh air, fresh water, waste, noise, the earth's heat, and sometimes even filtering / storing water and growing / storing food, gathering / storing power, etc.
The integrated design refers to our reliance on systems and materials that originate and return to their source in Nature. A building can remind us of how our body's systems are rooted in a natural world we all share. When a building breaths, exhales, drinks, adjust's temperature, enforces boundaries, incorporates the garden, etc. humbly serving us humans, we can focus on conversations, simple living, and enjoying life.

We try to incorporate the latest (and some of the oldest) technology in every project, including Geo-thermal Heat HVAC, Radiant Heat, Spray Foam or other special High R-Value Insulation, efficient windows and doors, tightly sealed envelopes, fresh conditioned filtered air, passive, active and photo-voltaic solar, and sometimes fire-proof light guage metal framing.
Aside from "Good Design" we offer early construction cost estimates you to approve along with the design sketches, help you with Competitive Bidding, Contractor Selection, negotiation of a fair AIA Contract and Payment Schedule, obtaining all permits and then we don't disappear during construction. We are there to support you.
We will help with any size project from a simple basement, kitchen or deck to a large addition or new home. The office has purposely been maintained in a modest low overhead manner in a ground floor retail setting with parking right out front providing easy friendly access. Walk-ins welcome.
